Why I teach: I come from a long family line of educators and so teaching and learning have always formed a foundational passion of my life. I love sharing my joy and knowledge of scuba diving and guiding new scuba students to discovering their own skills and passions as they interact with the undersea world.
Why Join Coral Key Scuba: I returned home to Coral Key Scuba where I received my initial dive certification in order to transition and develop my skills from a certified diver to a professional scuba instructor. I genuinely value the talent, friendship, knowledge, experience, and passion uniquely found within each member of this community family of dive professionals.
Favorite Dive location: Bahamas, Caribbean, and Cozumel with lots of bucket list locations still to come. Diving allows for exploration and beauty of underwater life and adventures with family and friends.
Bucket list Location: Palau and Galápagos Islands
Day Job: High School Principal
As a native son of Colorado, I graduated from Arvada West High School and then received a BA in English from Colorado State University. I moved to California and spent several years teaching and coaching in middle and high school before moving back to Colorado where I have continued a career in education currently as a high school principal. I graduated with an MA in Special Education from California State University and a Ph.D. in Education Administration from the University of Denver. I was very lucky to meet and marry my wife Laurie almost 25 years ago and we have raised three wonderful children.
