Certified: 1992, in the middle of winter. We pulled up to the parking lot with waist deep snow and walked over to a warming hut.  I thought “what did I get myself in to?”  The water was about 96 degrees and two days later I was certified and hooked for a lifetime.

Training includes: All of my training had been with SSI. Recreational: Open Water Diver, Perfect Buoyancy, Nitrox, Science of Diving, Dry Suit, Diver Stress Rescue, React Right, Advanced Open Water, Master Diver and Dive Guide.  Professional: Dive Guide, Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, Open Water Instructor, Computer Diving Instructor, Deep Diving Instructor, Nitrox Instructor, Night & Limited Visibility Instructor, Perfect Buoyancy Instructor, Science of Diving Instructor, Diver & Stress Rescue Instructor, Marine Ecology, and React Right Instructor.

Why I teach? I’ve been diving since 1992 and still feel the same excitement every time I enter the water. Over the years, diving has taken me around the world, and my love of travel has shaped both my experience and my teaching style. Each destination has reinforced my respect for the ocean and the importance of adaptable, confident diving skills.

As a scuba instructor, I enjoy working with divers of all levels, from the first-time students to those looking to refine their technique.  I focus on safety, comfort, and solid fundamentals, while training relaxed and enjoyable. My approach is patient and practical, helping students build real confidence underwater rather than just checking off skills.

Sharing the underwater world and the freedom that comes with diving well-is what drives my passion for teaching. Whether at a local site or a far-off destination, my goal is to help divers feel, prepared, capable, and inspired to keep exploring.

Why I joined Coral Key? This is such a great fun-loving place.  They say if you have passion and enjoy what you do then you won’t work a day in your life.  I don’t feel like I work here, I see it as an opportunity to train new dive buddies.

Favorite Dive location: Fiji

Bio: A scuba instructor who’s spent years doing what I love—teaching people to dive and appreciating the simple joy of being underwater. As I get closer to retirement, I’ve learned to slow things down, enjoy the process, and focus on what really matters: family, travel, time at the beach, and sharing the ocean with others.

When I’m not teaching, you’ll usually find me near the water, planning the next trip, or spending time with my family—grateful for a career that’s allowed me to combine adventure, connection, and the ocean into one rewarding journey.
