St. Eustatius or Sint Eustatius as they call it is one of those bucket lists places that you probably haven’t heard of. A small volcanic island in the northeast Caribbean. A special municipality of the kingdom of the Netherlands. Diving is a big attraction in “Statia”, yet it maintains its pristine condition because they limit the annual number of divers allowed. A diver’s dream for the Caribbean due to its unique mix of warm water, healthy reefs, ample shipwrecks, and underwater volcanic landscape, and it is so limited. The dive sites are only 5–10-minute boat ride. Quill National Park has hiking trails along the ocean and around the volcano, which features a rainforest and many species of orchid. Surrounding the island are narrow beaches of volcanic sand. Offshore, St. Eustatius National Marine Park's dive sites range from coral reefs, historic anchors, to shipwrecks. It includes one of the top 3 rated night dives in the Caribbean.

"The Golden Rock" is one of the last great destinations where you can get a taste of the old Caribbean, a laid-back island with few flashy attractions but lots of great diving, well-preserved natural habitats, and history aplenty. Tourism is the main income for the island. The St. Eustatius Marine Park is part of Statia's diverse ecotourism offerings, which also include a dormant volcano sheltering a tropical rainforest and an extensive trail system. History buffs will find plenty to love about Statia, as well, including the fully restored 1629 Fort Oranje, the old Lower Town in Oranjestad, and the Lynch Plantation Museum.

We go to dinner at various locations a short walk down the beach. Access to the town is a 15 min walk on the old slave road. Come with us to explore this jewel of the Caribbean. We went in 2021 and 2023, making it a Coral Key Scuba favorite that we can’t wait to ago back to.
